Video: Okanagan skies light up after a thunderstorm

The Okanagan lit up Wednesday night after a thunderstorm rolled through the valley.

Lightning crackled in the Penticton to Vernon area for several hours beginning around 8:30 p.m.

Many took the opportunity to pull out their cameras and take pictures of the light display as the Okanagan weathered a summer storm.

Environment Canada predicts another thunderstorm will hit the Okanagan on Thursday. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for much of British Columbia Thursday afternoon, including the north, central and south Okanagan, as well as the Shuswap.

If there are heavy rains in the area, it could cause flash flooding and water accumulation on the roads, they added. Friday is also expected to see afternoon showers with a chance of a thunderstorm, Environment Canada said.
